Handling copyright infringement on Facebook through two separate routes

When your work is copied on Facebook, preserve evidence first and then report it through Meta’s copyright tool. That is a platform-policy process, not a determination under Vietnamese law; important disputes also need an assessment of the domestic legal route.

When you find copied content on Facebook, capture and preserve evidence before reporting it, then use Meta's official copyright form. Meta's decision to remove or retain the content is a platform-policy decision; it is not a judgment about who is right under Vietnamese law.

Immediate steps

  1. Save the URL of the post, page or account and the URL of your original.
  2. Capture the full page and retain the original file and creation metadata.
  3. Identify whether you are the author, owner or authorised representative and prepare proof.
  4. Submit Meta's copyright report form with each specific URL.
  5. Keep the case reference and every response email as the handling record.

For a valuable dispute, read collecting evidence before reporting. Content may disappear after Meta acts, making the original state harder to prove.

Route one — Meta's platform policy

Meta receives reports under its own terms and internal tools. It may request identification of the work, the reported URLs, contact details and declarations about the report. The form and process can change; the Meta citation below records when the portal last accessed it.

This route determines only what Meta does with content on its services. It does not itself establish ownership, award damages or prevent the content appearing elsewhere.

Route two — Vietnamese law

Vietnam's legal mechanism has separate grounds, conditions and consequences. Start with online takedown to distinguish a statutory request from a platform report. If the objective extends beyond one post to compensation or action against the infringer, compare the four enforcement routes.

Removal by Meta does not mean a competent authority has found infringement. Conversely, Meta's refusal to remove content does not prove that it is lawful in Vietnam.
